Mayor Menino is and will always be a beacon of hope, courage, and integrity to those of us who have children and have raised them in Boston. Mayor Menino though strong was always the gentle grandfatherly man who took time to talk to and encourage the children. My children have been able to benefit greatly by the programs, resources and wonderful activities the city has offered. We know that if not for this great and wonderful man, we would have gone unnoticed and disregarded. This Mayor has a heart for the people (all of the people) All that mayor Menino has done to bring this city together and make it a city of inclusion and thoughtfulness is unsurpassed. The work that this Mayor has done to create an environment that is alive with business, educational institutions, green spaces, entertainment, and culture is a testament to the love Mayor Menino has for all of us. We love you. God Bless your soul our beloved friend and Mayor. We will continue to work hard to keep your good work alive. Bless your family for sharing so much of you with Boston.

When I heard of Mayor Menino’s decision to stop his treatment, I had a gut feeling he was leaving us. I have never appreciated another politician as I did Mr. Menino. He was the people’s mayor and he took care of our city, our children. His humanity led and directed his decisions. He was my hero!!! RIP Mayor Menino you will be missed, I know you are going to your sweet rest onward to the father’s bosom. R.I.P. Mayor Menino.
